KEGA VGM Output Only Supports Mono

Postby TEOL » Wed Sep 07, 2011 11:26 am

I just tested VGM outputting in KEGA and did the entire converting to Wave thing and found that VGM output only supports Mono sound from KEGA. What a load of rubbish no wonder why some VGM rips sound a bit inaccurate sometimes.

Is there any way we can get Steve Snake to update the sound to support Stereo in his next update?!!!!?

It's either KEGA or In VGM that has the sound support only in Mono which is kinda messing up the whole idea of our project as it's supposed to be about high quality full stereo VGM rips which sounds like what you can get through the Headphone Socket of the real system only cleaner not Mono ones which sound like what you can get from the real system via RF Cable only cleaner.

I guess in the meantime hacking is the only way to go for the project currently as at least the hackers can get the Stereo or Mono master VGM files from the game rather than Mono files every time with KEGA rips? Or of course stay happy with what you're receiving which I also am I just also like full stereo rips too!!!!

Which program outputs only mono sound? Kega or in_vgm?
And which version do you use? (as precise as possible, please)

It works for me in VGMPlay, so it should work in the in_vgm WIP/beta.
A good file to test if the player supports stereo is Shui Hu - Feng Yun Zhuan, Stage 2. The DAC is panned to the right speaker 70% of the song.

Must be In VGM then if VGM Play supports KEGA VGM rips in Stereo.

Although it could be KEGA, who knows. Every VGM i output via In VGM to Stereo Wave ends up being the same thing on both Channels aka Mono.

In VGM 0.35.

KEGA 3.64

Is the in_vgm version the stable one, or WIP/Beta?

In the latter case, just wait two or three weeks until I release 0.40.

This shows an outputted file. It's KEGA's side that's Mono as it outputs Waves too in Mono on Megadrive games. So we'll have to wait for a sound bug fix before we can have full stereo sets we'll have to deal with rubbish Mono in the meanwhile including on the later games where all of them are stereo native unless people post hacked non KEGA sets.

Wait... what? o.O
I ripped several stereo VGMs with Kega, you're probably doing something wrong.
