Updating Time Trax (Prototype) [PAL]

Had a broken loop I didn't catch until way later.

Things I noticed while ripping some SMPS files:

  • Tecmo Cup Football Game: There are 4 songs missing from the pack. The game has 21 different songs. (missing IDs are 82, 8D, 8E, 95)
  • Wimbledon Championship Tennis: Championship Win 3 and 4 are the same song, so 4 could be removed. (The game has only 13 songs. ID 8E is an empty song.)
  • The Lion King II (unlicensed): songs 83 and 86 missing

Here are updated versions of the S3K sets. A few months ago, I found out Sawada only composed "Title Screen" (see http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2067&p=70392). I also removed Nagao credit from all tracks except for HZ II and LRZ II, as those are the only tracks he done.

Those are the only tracks that we know for sure he did, I kept Nagao credited because he most likely worked on others.

Yeah, this was years ago, and I never backed up the info. (didn't think it was that important at the time)

Here is an updated version of the Rent a Hero pack.

I changed track names and track order to be more consistent with OST. The last two tracks also have Hiroshi Kawaguchi added to the composer credits, as he arranged them. I also slightly changed the game title, as it doesn't actually have hyphens, so please update accordingly.

Let me know if there's any errors with this updated pack.

EDIT: 2ch-H made me aware that the Jantei Monogatari pack was updated and I just missed that.

Yesterday I ripped the SMPS songs from Ninja Burai Densetsu and noticed some unused data between song 81 and 83.
I did some research and found out that the pointer list has song 82 pointing to the same data as song 8D.
I changed it to play the unused song (which I assume it's the "real" song 82) and dumped it.
http://vgmrips.net/misc/NinjaBuraiDensetsu_82_Yatta.vgz
The game itself never plays the song (except for the sound test) and the song header is slightly broken. (track count is 9, but it defines only 6 tracks - I fixed this before dumping the VGM.)

While doing some additional research, I also found data for an unreferenced song title, stored after the song 97's title:
Image
If anyone wants to transcribe and/or translate it, feel free to do so.
EDIT: The song title is "幻のオフローダー". A (questionable) translation seems to be "Phantom of the Off-Roader".

Finally, I tried to note where each song is used. This is what I've got by playing through the first chapter and watching a playthrough:

Code: Select all

01 Uiko-chan of the Best Village (Enemy Turn 1)
02 Yatta!! (unused)
03 Grievous Twilight (Chapter Story Intro)
04 Crimson Praise (Player Turn 2)
05 Horse Gallop (unused)
06 Loneliness... (Player Turn 1)
07 Their Sadness (Opening)
08 Flow of Time (Save Screen)
09 Brave Men Act (Chapter Story End)
0A Tonight's Campaign (Enemy Turn 2)
0B For the Sake of Whom? (Chapter Screen)
0C Voice of Darkness (played in some house)
0D Palace Yarimashitazo! (Chapter Clear)
0E The End is Near (Game Over)
0F Moonlight (Fight, some House)
10 Edo Continues to Flourish (Town)
11 Hoy, Kuma-san (Dojo)
12 Goyukkuri (Inn)
13 The Elder's Corner (Shop)
14 Human Endurance (Chapter 4 Clear)
15 Chonmage Oshosan (Temple)
16 Ninja Buraiden (referenced by the code - where is this played?)
17 Followers of the Three Samurai (Credits)
18 (Ending)
1A (Title)
1B (Defeated)

The "Turn 1" songs are played in chapter 1-3 and 5-9.
"Turn 2" songs are played in chapter 4 and 10, which seem to be castle/fortress stages. (Chapter 10 is the final chapter.)
Maybe someone has ideas for better names.
