Trimming problem

Postby feos » Sat Jan 15, 2011 3:25 pm

I use foobar2000 to convert to WAV. Because my in_vgm crashes Winamp.
But I'm tired of this randomness with choosing samples to trim & loop at!
I convert to WAV with 44100 setting, but VGMTool misses the exact sample, which i seek & find in Adobe Audition.
I mean, when I've found a good time to trim after & a good sample to loop after, the loop always starts earlier (in about part of second) & I have to fix it by intuition...
I think it is because of difference between sample rate in original VGM & converted WAV. But they both are 44KHz?

I can't say why VGMTool misses the samples. You can try my VGM Trimming tool.
If it also misses the sample, the WAV log is bad, else it's VGMTool. In the former case you need to try other VGM players or try other trimming methods (like vgm2mid and a MIDI program).

I was browsing through the forums (which I rarely do, don't know why I did) and found this:

To solve your problem simply use an another player (e.g in_vgm).

Thanks for helping!
I really thought the cause was in foo_gep.
But as I said, it's impossible for me to convert via winamp, so I see no way out...

You can try (believe me, I hate to advertise my own programs) VGMPlay. It's some "sort" of commandline-tool and supports wave-logs. You might even be able to compile the source for Linux.
