Trimming Error

Postby learnerofskills » Thu May 05, 2011 1:17 pm

Hello. I've logged some VGMs from the game Dark Wizard for sega cd, but when trying to trim them I get this error: "Reached the end of VGM data! There must be something wrong - try fixing the length for this file"

I'm using VGM Tool 2 Release 5 with these sample times... Start: 62626 Loop: 186657 End: 1713753 I've also attatched the VGM that I'm trying to trim.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

I believe the samples should start at 0. Why do they start at 62626? How did you log the file, and what have you done to it thus far?

I'm starting it at 62626 in order to trim out the silence at the beginning of the VGM.
I logged it using Gens/GS r7 2.16.7 since Kega Fusion doesn't log music generated from the Sega CD music chip.
So far all I've done was log the VGMs, then I used xmplay to output a 16 bit WAV file. And then I opened the WAV file in audacity to find the timings that I needed.

At first: Congratulations for being the first one (after me of course) to use Gens/GS r7 for vgm logging!

Your sample times should be right, but you're using the wrong tool. (VGMTool is too old to support SegaCD PCM and yes - the tutorial is outdated.)
Download vgm_trim from the VGM Tool Collection here and drop the vgm on vgm_trim.exe.
The tools also include optvgmrf which you need to use on the vgms instead of the normal optvgm.

Thanks for the help ValleyBell! It works great. You will be seeing a set from me soon if all goes well!

And also thank you for the congratulations. I grew up playing the sega cd, and most of the music I listen to is video game music, so I'm very eager to rip some sega cd VGMs for my collection.

Trimming error in Windows Movie Maker?

Postby Alison » Thu Oct 27, 2011 3:24 am

When I trim the clips they play fine individually, but when I try to watch the entire movie project over the trims don't work. They just shorten one half of the video instead of cutting it down to the middle part.

For example, I have a clip of putting on lipstick which I want to start when the lipstick goes on instead of me fiddling with the tube and end before you see my arm reach for the camera. Instead of that, it will start with the lipstick tube, and play through until it just cuts off. It will be the same LENGTH of the trim, but not the desired section.

Please help! I think this is a glitch but I need to know if there's any way to fix it!

Okay, this is really off-topic.
We really need someone (admin, moderator) that can take care of all these spambots. (Fast-Debrid, Online GED - what's next?)
