Talk about anything and everything about Sega's 16 Bit console and its addons here - hardware, games, memories. You name it.

SOCKET!

Oh man, I love that game much more than I realistically should.

Let's see...for a bit of random western, I'd recommend Lethal Enforcers II, and to a lesser extent Sunset Riders. If you like Socket's soundtrack, check out the Battle Mania games, they're by the same people, though a bit more rock and a little less...melodic.

I can't really remember what else I've said. Sangokushi Retsuden? Mr. Nutz? Exo-Squad? :D

I second Exo-Squad because that game has some awesome tracks, in my opinion.

ALIEN 3.

That "Level Guardian " song is ridiculous.
Rapid patch changing,i could swear theres more than 6 channels worth of sound!
Channel 6 is switchin between PCM and FM instantly, yet in other games out around the same time, the sound would flake out for the hell of it(kid chameleon) or couldnt even play audio samples at the same time as FM (Thunder Force 4).

So how did they manage to make it do that?

Agreed, Alien 3 sounds awesome. Probably more overlooked than underrated though.

Nadia and generally a lot of Namco composed games during that time had great soundtracks.

Matt Furniss = unsung chiptune god. The 8-bit versions similarly rock.

Probably because most of his work isn't that memorable, but technically it's always high quality.

Has anybody ever tried listening to all game over songs as a playlist.
there are some outrageous songs.

The Contra Hard Corps one is just pure "!!!!!"
also i like how the streets of rage game over songs is the same each time but just kinda gets beefed up each time.
